General Plan Questions

Which dental plan is better?

It depends on what you and your clients are looking for!

Each of our dental plans offer different benefits and options. For advice on plan specifics, and support on how best to inform your clients, reach out to your Account Executive.

Don’t know your Account Executive? Agent Support to the rescue! Give us a message, and we’ll get you connected.

Association plans? What does that mean?

Association plans provide individuals access to the benefits typically available to larger organizations. By coming together and leveraging their collective bargaining power, association members gain access to more affordable, comprehensive coverage.

Associations provide members additional, exclusive benefits and resources, including access to their dental and vision plans. Association benefits include health, wellness, personal, and business benefits.

NCD by MetLife

All NCD by MetLife plans are paired with a membership to the National Fitness and Wellness Association (NWFA). The NWFA monthly membership fee varies depending on the dental plan selected, and is included in the members’ monthly billing.

The NWFA provides non-insurance benefits that help members and their families and pets stay strong, healthy, and active. Click here to learn more about the NWFA.

VSP Vision

All VSP Preferred Vision plans are paired with a membership to the NWFA as well.

What does MAC mean for out-of-network coverage?

Our NCD by MetLife dental plans give you access to dentists through the MetLife Preferred Dentist Program (PDP). Dentists participating in the PDP have agreed to limit their charge for a dental service to the Maximum Allowable Charge (MAC) for such service.

That means that if a certain dental procedure’s MAC is set at $400, your in-network dentist has agreed to only charge that amount. If your plan’s coinsurance is set to cover 80% of that dental procedure, then the plan will pay 80% of $400, which is $320.

If you choose a dentist who is not in the MetLife PDP network, we’ll still pay benefits for covered services. However, the percentage your plan covers is based on the MAC amount, not the total your dentist charges.

If your out-of-network dentist charges you $800 for the same dental procedure as above, but the MAC for your plan is still at $400 and your coinsurance is 80%, your plan will pay 80% of the MAC, not the total charge.

This means your out-of-network costs could be higher, because anything above and beyond the MAC is not covered by your plan, and would be your responsibility. In this example, your plan would pay that 80% of the $400 MAC, which is $320, and the remaining $480 would be your responsibility.

The reason for this difference is that out-of-network dentists have not entered into an agreement with the PDP to limit their charges. You are always free to receive services from any dentist you choose, and you don’t need authorization from us to use the dentist of your choice, but you can see how choosing an in-network dentist would likely save you money.

Can I learn more about the NWFA?

Yes! Visit this page for a detailed breakdown of all the benefits and discounts available at each level of membership to the National Wellness and Fitness Association.

Can I just sell a plan without the association fee?

No. The membership to the association is what allows members to gain access to the rewards and benefits, including the dental or vision plan itself.

Do any of your plans cover orthodontics?

Currently, none of our dental plans cover orthodontics.

Which plans cover dental implants?

Many of our dental plans cover implants, but there are some specific guidelines about when and how those implants can be covered. For more clarity, reach out to your Account Executive, or to Agent Support.

Is there a missing tooth clause?

Yes. Our NCD by MetLife dental plans have a missing tooth clause. The missing tooth clause does not apply to congenitally missing teeth. To get the specific details about what that means for your clients, reach out to your Account Executive, or to Agent Support.

How do I download member-facing email plans?

How to use these email templates:

  1. First, click on the links to download the files.
  2. Then, extract the .zip files, and upload them to your chosen email distribution system. If you haven’t done this before, you can google “how to upload an email template into” and then your email system, eg. Active Campaign, MailChimp, etc.
  3. Once uploaded, change out the temporary logo images with your logo images.
  4. Change out the placeholder contact info for your contact info.
  5. Please make sure to keep the rest of the email as intact as possible, especially the footer information and copyright from MetLife.

Technical Support

How do I get an enrollment portal link?

You should have received a welcome email from agentsupport@ncd.com with your enrollment portal link, but if you didn’t get it (or can’t find it) that’s okay! Please reach out to Agent Support ASAP so we can re-send that email.

I see a previous client’s information in my enrollment portal link!

Each time you use your personal enrollment link to begin a new member’s enrollment process, it’s important to start with the correct URL.

Your personal enrollment link should look like this:

https://enrollment.ncd.com/XXXXXX (where the XXXXXX is your unique Agent ID)

If there is anything after your Agent ID in the URL, that means you are using a cached version of the site, and it may contain a prior member’s enrollment information. If you’re seeing enrollment information already filled out when you’re trying to enroll a new member, check that the URL you’re starting with is correct.

We suggest that you open a new window or tab with your personal enrollment link and begin the enrollment process with this fresh, correct link.

We also recommend that you double-check any bookmarks you may have of this link, and ensure that you have bookmarked the correct URL.

If you encounter any difficulties with this, please reach out to our Agent Support team for assistance.

Do you have paper enrollment forms?

No, we exclusively use online enrollment at this time.

Something’s not working with your website!

Please contact Agent Support ASAP so we can help troubleshoot this issue for you.

If you don’t know your Account Executive, please send a message to Agent Support, and we can help you out.

Contracting Questions

How do I get contracted with NCD?

If you’re an independent agent wishing to contract with NCD directly, reach out to Agent Support to get the application link.

If you’re already working with an upline, you may need to reach out to them to get your unique contracting link. If they’re not set up with us to bring on a downline, they can email Agent Support to make that happen.

In addition to the contracting link, you’re going to need a few things:

  • Your Individual NPN (even if you’re applying as an agency!)
  • Your current W-9
  • E&O coverage documents

(While you are required to have E&O coverage to contract with NCD, you are not required to submit proof of E&O coverage with your application.  NCD reserves the right to request proof of E&O coverage when necessary.)

Then, simply complete your application online! If Agent Support needs anything else from you, they’ll reach out to you at the email you provided.

I just sent in my application? What happens next, and how long does the contracting process usually take?

Once your application has been submitted, our outstanding Agent Support team will complete your contracting application audit.  We try our best to get contracting completed within 24 hours.  If we need additional information, Agent Support will contact you through the email or phone number you provided.

As soon as your contracting audit is complete, you will receive an email containing key information, including your personal enrollment portal link and access to your back office.

It says my NPN or username is already in use? What do I do?

Please contact Agent Support if you see this, or any other error, when trying to complete your contracting application. We can check to see if you may already be in our system, or troubleshoot whatever issue is going on.
